  • Emergency stem sealant injection: this standard feature allows the valve’s stem housing to be adapted with a grease fitting to inject sealant during emergency scenarios, providing protection against unplanned spikes in operating conditions.
  • Emergency seat sealant injection: this optional feature allows the valve’s end connections to be adapted with a grease fitting to inject sealant. This creates a positive seal in the case of seat leakage due to service impurities or unplanned spikes in operating conditions.
  • Drain and vent ports: drain ports located at the bottom of the valve release any fluid trapped in the body cavity of a closed valve. Vent ports located at the top of the body cavity eliminate any gas trapped in the body cavity of a fully closed valve. Both play a key safety role in double block and bleed and/or double isolation and bleed valve configurations.
  • Double block and bleed: this safety feature eliminates the buildup of pressure due to high pressure media trapped in the valve’s body cavity, even while the valve is in the fully closed position.
  • Firesafe design: secondary metal seat design provides a firesafe shut off per api 607. Additionally, secondary graphite body seals and flexible graphite packing prevents leakage through the body joints and stuffing box, respectively.
  • Internal trunnion design: upper and lower bearing plates hold the ball in place, preventing the ball from floating axially and avoiding excess load on the seats. External trunnion design available in certain sizes.
  • Pressure energized stem packing: our proprietary energizer ring, located above the primary o-ring stem seal, provides insurance in the rare event that the o-ring is damaged by using the media pressure to create an upward compressive force on the packing. This upward force on the packing combined with the downward compressive force created by tightening the packing gland results in a larger net compressive force on the packing and better seal than a typical packing design.
  • Double seals on body joints: primary elastomeric seals ensure zero leakage in standard operating conditions. Secondary graphite seals ensure proper body joint sealing per api 607 in extreme temperature scenarios.
  • Anti-static devices: standard anti-static devices ensure electrical continuity between the ball, stem, and body, eliminating the possibility of sparks within the valve created by static electrical charges.
  • Valve position indication: clear stamping on the outer diameter of the mounting flange identifies the open or closed position of the valve based on the stem key orientation.
  • Iso 5211 mounting pad: robust iso 5211 mounting pad provides quick conversion between the valve and the automation package.
  • Blowout-proof stem design: valves are designed with stem/body connection preventing stem blowout under line pressure.

Features & Benefits

  • STEM SEALS: Multiport Series 1/4” – 4” valves all feature a live-loaded stem packing assembly for positive stem sealing. Utilizing Belleville washers, the stem seal automatically adjusts to compensate for changes in temperature and normal wear. The 6”– 12” valves utilize an independent packing gland which can be easily adjusted while the valve is still in service. The 1/4”– 2” valves also offer primary and secondary stem sealing. The primary seal is a thrust washer and O-ring assembly. The adjustable stem packing creates a secondary seal between the stem and body in the upper stem journal area.

  • FOUR SEAT DESIGN: As standard, Multiport Series valves are supplied with an additional fourth seat. This seat acts as a self-contained seal to prevent leakage in the cavity area and maintains proper alignment of the ball. The added seat delivers bi-directional control and shutoff combined in one valve – with an OFF position in both T and L port balls. Flow-Tek’s seat design ensures bi-directional, bubble-tight sealing with low operating torque.

  • SEAT SELECTION: A wide range of seat materials are available to meet most applications. The standard seat is TFM. Options include RPTFE, PTFE, UHMWPE and Tek-Fil® (carbon/graphite filled TFM). Tek-Fil® seats offer reduced torque in high temperature, high cycle, and steam service applications.

  • INTERCHANGEABILITY: Many parts including balls, stems, seats, and stem and body seals are interchangeable between different models of the same size valve.

  • CAVITY FILLERS: Optional cavity fillers are available for Multiport models 230/240 and 150/300 valves. Cavity fillers reduce the possibility of media contamination due to line media fluids becoming entrapped in the void between the ball and the valve body wall.

  • SECURE MOUNT: The integral cast top flange ensures positive actuator mounting. Actuation equipment can be easily and safely removed while the valve is under full line pressure. The mounting flange is designed to ISO 5211 standards with direct flush-mount capabilities. By repositioning the travel stop pin bolt on the mounting flange, all flow patterns are available from the standard valve.

  • BALL/STEM: The ball and stem connection is designed to ensure a positive connection. 1/4”– 2” valve stems are pinned, 21/2” – 12” stems and balls are one piece with trunnion mounting. All stems offer blowout proof protection. Balls are precision machined and mirror finished for bubble-tight shutoff with less operating torque. Flow-Tek balls have machined edges to reduce seat wear providing a high life cycle.

The Resolute Ball™ is a remarkably unique product designed to address a variety of customer challenges related to scale accumulation on the upstream surface of the ball that is common in applications with infrequent operation. Certain medias in industries such as pulp & paper, mining, petrochemical, and refining have a tendency to accumulate thick scale on the ball surface when left dormant over time. Scale must be scraped off of a traditional ball by the seat, dramatically increasing torque, making the valve difficult to operate, often leading to premature valve failures such as seat leakage, sheared stems, and seized operation. The unique Resolute Ball™ design offers a drop-in solution for this common problem.

Standard ball valves use a spherical surface that maintains contact between the ball and seat throughout the 90 degree operation. As the valve operates, the scale that has accumulated on the spherical surface of the traditional ball travels across the seat sealing area, resulting in increased torque, scored seal surfaces, and potential failure to operate. The unique, engineered geometry of Bray's Resolute Ball™ Valve has been successful in helping our customers overcome these challenges. As the Resolute Ball™ rotates, media contact with the seat is drastically minimized throughout the quarter-turn operation due to minimal contact between the ball and seat after 10 degrees of rotation. The Resolute Ball™ geometry reduces wear by as much as 70% by enabling accumulated media particles to be flushed past the ball and seats. This unique design provides improved operation, extended service life, reduced valve operating torque, increased reliability, and reduced total cost of ownership for the customer.

The Resolute Ball™ is compatible as a drop-in replacement for multiple standard product lines including the one-piece Flanged ball valve RF15/RF30, two-piece Flanged ball valve F15/F30. Each of these high-performance product lines are field proven with an extensive global install base throughout a wide variety of industries.
